In this controversial three-part series filmed in Lebanon, Gaza, Israel, Egypt, and Bosnia, Robert Fisk—award-winning Middle East and Balkans correspondent for the London Independent—reports on Muslim unrest as ideology, religion, history, and geography come into conflict. This Films for the Humanities production focuses its capable eye on Lebanon's guerilla war that aims to liberate southern Lebanon from Israeli control. The scope of this tragic conflict is brought into sharp focus in this documentary through the use of extensive interviews with participants from the Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad movements, views of civilian casualties caused by Israeli air attacks, and photographic evidence of the ongoing destruction of life and property i...

*SPOILER ALERT* Beirut, Lebanon, 1975. As fighting breaks out between the Lebanese Muslims and the Christian militias, the city is split in two: East Beirut is Christian-controlled and West Beirut is Muslim. The social and political upheaval has a dramatic effect on the life of Tarek, a teenager at school, and his parents. His mother wants to leave Beirut but his father is determined to stay. At first, Tarek relishes the disruption since it means he can escape school. He runs amok in the bombed-out streets with his friend Omar and May, a beautiful young Christian girl. Tarek and Omar have a Super-8 camera, but the store which develops their films is on the other side of town. Tarek ventures across 'no man's land', a dangerous zone. On one of his missions, he comes across a famous broth...

I am in Beirut, Lebanon! I am currently interning with an amazing Christian nonprofit to help provide aid and relief for the Syrian Refugee crisis for the summer and am a little over a week in. I primarily work Mon-Thurs and Sunday so the clips are collection from some of the work and my time off. We have been doing a lot of work in churches and refugees camps. The refugee camps I have been to so far have asked us not to take pictures. But I am going to Bekaa Valley tomorrow, the largest Syrian refugee camp in all of Lebanon, for several days to film an organization that will be putting up tents and handing out supplies and hope to post about that soon! with love, elena @elenasetareh Business Inquiries: firstname.lastname@example.org https://www.instagram.com/elenasetareh/
